COOKIE POLICY
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that often includes a unique identifier assigned to your computer or device when you visit a site. Each site can send its own cookie to your browser if your browser's preferences allow it, but (to protect your privacy) your browser only permits a site to access the cookies it has already sent you, and not the cookies sent by other sites. Many sites do this whenever a user visits them to track online traffic flows. We use cookies to improve the quality of the site and services and to enhance the browsing experience. Some cookies we use last only for the duration of your session on the site and expire when you close your web browser. Other cookies are used when, for example, we comply with the information you have requested (such as language preference) and have a longer duration.
What is the lifespan of a cookie?
The lifespan of a cookie can vary significantly, depending on the purpose for which it is placed. Some cookies are designed for a single use (such as session cookies) and are not retained once the user leaves the site. Other cookies are retained and reused every time the user returns to the site (persistent cookies). However, cookies can be deleted by the user at any time using the browser settings.
What are third-party cookies?
Some sections of content on some sites may be provided by third parties, such as an advertisement. Such cookies may be placed on the site and are called third-party cookies because they are not placed by the site owner. These third parties are also required to comply with applicable legal regulations and the privacy policies of the respective site owner.
Why are cookies important for the internet?
Cookies are essential for the efficient operation of the Internet, helping to generate a user-friendly browsing experience tailored to the preferences and interests of each user. Refusing or disabling cookies can make some sites impossible to use. Refusing or disabling cookies does not mean that you will no longer receive online advertising, but only that it will no longer take into account your preferences and interests highlighted by browsing behavior.
Examples of important uses of cookies (which do not require user authentication through an account):
Content and services tailored to user preferences - product and service categories;
Offers tailored to user interests - remembering passwords;
Retaining child protection filters for Internet content (family mode options, safe search functions);
Limiting the frequency of ad display - limiting the number of times an ad is shown to a specific user on a site;
Providing more relevant advertising to the user;
Measurement, optimization, and analytics features - such as confirming a certain level of traffic on a website, what type of content is viewed, and how a user arrives at a website (e.g., through search engines, directly, from other websites, etc.). Websites conduct these usage analyses to improve their sites for the benefit of users.
What types of cookies do we use?
By accessing this site, the following types of cookies may be placed:
- Site performance: these remember user preferences on this site;
- Visitor analysis: these tell us if you have visited this site before; the browser will tell us if you have this cookie, and if not, we will generate one;
- Geotargeting: these are used by software to determine the country you come from; they are completely anonymous and are only used to target content;
- Registration: these notify us if you are registered or not, show us the account you are registered with, and whether you have permission for a specific service;
- Advertising: based on these, we can find out if you have viewed an online ad, what type of ad, and how long it has been since you viewed this ad.
Do cookies contain personal data?
Cookies themselves do not request personal information to be used and, in most cases, do not personally identify internet users. Personal data can be collected through the use of cookies only to facilitate certain functionalities for the user.
How can you change your cookie settings in your browser?
Deleting Cookies
Applications used to access web pages allow the saving of cookies on the terminal by default. These settings can be changed so that the automatic administration of cookies is blocked by the web browser, or the user is informed each time cookies are sent to their terminal. Detailed information about the possibilities and ways to manage cookies can be found in the application's settings (web browser). Limiting the use of cookies may affect certain features of the website.
Most browsers offer the option to change cookie settings. These settings are usually found in the "options" or "preferences" menu of the browser.
To understand these settings, the following links may be useful; otherwise, you can use the browser's "help" option for more details.
