ÎN CONTEXT / Proiectul Slănic-Moldova
"InContext is a contemporary art and experimental music residency program aiming to inspire artists to develop their practice and create work in non-studio and non-gallery spaces, through engaging with new geographies, audiences and socio-economic contexts.
The resort becomes a living museum, a space dedicated to presentations, debates, film screenings, group readings and specialized workshops aimed at informing the public about the ecological breakdown and its immediate and future consequences, inspiring a collective search for fresh solutions and ideas for extending the life on Earth of all animal and plant species that inhabit it."
"20 unique mineral water springs. The variety and beneficial action of the mineral springs makes Slanic-Moldova more naturally gifted than famous resorts like KarlovyVary, Vichy, Montecanini sau Baden-Baden, the only similar place can be found only in Czech republic’s Lázně (Marienbad).
Slănic Moldova is a place with a distinct identity in terms of natural resources as well as geographical and architectural features. The air, the light and the mineral springs offer an ideal context for reflection, creativity and collective participation, with a particular focus on concepts of modern life and wellbeing, human impact upon nature, community and spirituality."

In 2019, through the work of the InContext volunteers we managed to finalize the reconversion process of transforming the olld termic room of the hotel Venus in The Art “Center”” InContext creating a place where experimentation and collaboration that inspires lifelong learning, critical thinking, curiosity, community, inclusiveness, and sustainability is at home.
Creating experiences based on investigation, research, interaction and cooperation designed to encourage people to think for themselves, to understand the complexity of the global world, and to act in solidarity with the nature and future generations to produce a living future. Creating a culture of experimentation and collaboration that inspires lifelong learning, critical thinking, curiosity, community, inclusiveness, and sustainability.
Activities, performances, talks and exhibitions seek to contribute to a lively and ongoing experiment that finds its ethos in the natural resources of the majestic resort known for its healing mineral springs, as well as in the rich culture and traditions of the Romanian mountains, one of the last virgin ecosystems in Europe.
